Psychiatry & Wellness
Welcome!
At Sparrow Psychiatry and Wellness our mission is to deliver mental health care that is both precise and compassionate. I focus on accurate diagnosis, individualized treatment, and innovative approaches for people who haven’t been helped by traditional medications alone. Above all, Sparrow is a place of respect, dignity, and partnership—where your wellbeing guides every decision we make together.
A meaningful part of my work has been caring for Native patients in Montana—people who have trusted me with their stories, traditions, and healing journeys. Their resilience has deeply informed how I practice. At Sparrow, I aim to offer care that is culturally sensitive, collaborative, and accessible to all communities.
Our Services
At Sparrow Psychiatry we take time to understand your history, current challenges, and strengths so we can build a clear, accurate picture of what’s going on. Medication management, when appropriate, is collaborative and precise—focused on choosing treatments that meaningfully improve your quality of life while minimizing side effects. My goal is to help you feel stable, supported, and empowered in your next steps.
Lifestyle psychiatry integrates core lifestyle domains—nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress physiology, social connectedness, and harmful substance reduction—into psychiatric treatment plans to prevent, treat, and augment recovery from mental health disorders.
Lifestyle Psychiatry is recognized by:
The American Psychiatric Association (APA) through CME tracks and working groups
The American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM)
Harvard’s ongoing Lifestyle Psychiatry program (John Ratey, et al.)
Spravato is the FDA-approved formulation of ketamine, covered by insurance, to treat depression that has. not responded to at least two antidepressants. Treatment is twice-weekly for one month then once-weekly thereafter. Most patients ‘graduate’ to fewer and fewer visits as functional brain changes take place.
Spravato sessions at Sparrow are held in a space intentionally created to feel peaceful—antique furniture, layered fabrics, low light, and the option for blankets or eye masks. While the environment is restorative and non-clinical, the treatment itself is delivered with full REMS compliance, including monitoring, observation, and safety protocols.
Treatment resistant depression is so prevalent. Did you know…
Only about 1/3 of people achieve full remission on an antidepressant.
Roughly 33% fully respond
33% partially respond
33% do not respond at all
This has held true across STAR*D, the largest depression treatment study ever conducted.
With each antidepressant trial, chances of remission drop significantly.
From STAR*D:
Level 1 (first med): ~30% remission
Level 2: ~30% remission
Level 3: ~14% remission
Level 4: ~13% remission
By level 4, remission is less than 1 in 7.
After two failed adequate trials → the patient formally meets criteria for TRD.
Adequate =
Correct dose
≥ 6 weeks
Good adherence
This is the standard threshold across clinical guidelines (APA, CANMAT, WFSBP).
Traditional prescribing often stops at “try the next one” instead of recognizing when a different approach is needed. At Sparrow Psychiatry, we pay close attention to early signs of true non-response and explore alternative pathways—whether that’s addressing underlying neurobiology, integrating lifestyle-based interventions, or considering advanced treatments like esketamine. You deserve more than endless medication roulette.
